An image of Comet Neowise has been crowned Gold winner of the Environment category at this year’s Association of Photographers annual awards.

Tony Gale won the prize with his photograph ‘Neowise and Old Faithful’ which was taken at the cone geyser in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming in the US.

Environment category judge Daphne Christelis, Head of Photo & Video, Greenpeace UK, said, “It was an absolute pleasure to judge the AOP Environment Award this year. It was surprisingly hard to do, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

“I have been in this industry my whole life, yet I never tire of seeing the world through someone else’s eyes, seeing someone else’s vision of what is around us.

“I would like to thank and congratulate all the winners, finalists and everyone who took part.”
